Our infant room provides care for children ages six weeks to 16 months. Our infants are hugged, rocked and played with in a nurturing, loving environment. Infants experience a variety of activities throughout the day to help strengthen and develop muscles for rolling over, sitting up and eventually standing. The staff to child ratios for infants are: one to five for six weeks to 12 months and one to six for 12 to 16 months.
All infants are provided with Parent’s Choice Advantage formula. Parents may bring in a different formula or breast milk if they prefer. Children that require food, in addition to a bottle, receive Gerber rice, oatmeal and/or mixed cereal and fruit and/or vegetables if appropriate. Between eight to 12 months children begin to use finger foods and start using sippy cups in addition to bottles. Children 12 months and older will be provided with breakfast, lunch and snack each day.

Our infant and toddler staff are moms and grandmothers with many years of experience who have a love of children. The infant program is facilitated by tenured staff who have been with this program from two to 22 years.

Our toddler room provides care for children 18 months to 2 ½ years. The staff to child ratio for toddlers is one to seven.

This program offers developmentally appropriate activities and gross and fine motor skill development. The Creative Curriculum for Toddlers is utilized in a play based environment.

This room is organized into activity centers for dramatic play, language development, music and art. All children in the toddler classroom are introduced to toilet training as part of their daily schedule when developmentally ready.

Full Day Preschool

Music Mondays are a part of the weekly schedule for all preschool children. The children are given an opportunity for group singing, dancing and a chance to learn about and play musical instruments. Whiz Kids Wednesdays give the children half an hour of creative, challenging and purposeful physical activities to keep them moving while having fun.

Our full day preschool program provides care for children 2 ½ through five years of age. The Creative Curriculum is delivered in an environment that is play-based, cheerful, fun and challenging with activities that are developmentally appropriate and designed to encourage social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth in each child. Opportunities to explore, create, discover and try new ideas take place in a safe environment. Children are encouraged to develop problem solving and social skills as they form a positive self image.

Each preschool classroom is divided into activity centers for the development of literacy, math, science, social studies and art with an emphasis on Kindergarten readiness skills for those children preparing for public or private school Kindergarten.

The children enjoy a variety of activities such as block building, dramatic play, art, crafts, library time, small group and large group activity time and recreational time in the gymnasium and outside playground time.

The YMCA Character Development Values program with emphasis on caring, honesty, respect and responsibility is incorporated into the daily curriculum and activities. The Animal Trackers physical fitness and nutrition program and swim lessons are also a part of the preschool weekly schedule.

The staff to child ratios for this program are: one to eight for two and a half to three years; one to 12 for three to four years, and one to 14 for four to five years.
